Did April even happen? How about May? I’m shocked at how fast June arrived. 😮
I’ve clearly slacked on the monthly posting, and that is due to the simple fact that I can be completely lazy at times. That’s just how it goes. “Hashtag ‘no shame,'” folks! 😉 I suppose I should get on with the catch-up…
How weird was it to have Easter and April Fool’s on the same day? It opened up the opportunity to prank my Son, which only happened because the two coincided, as I never participate in April Fool’s nonsense. What did I do, exactly? Well, I hid His Easter basket in the washing machine, and, for just a minute, watched Him wander around the house, looking for it. I didn’t want to take it too far, as I wasn’t trying to mentally damage Him (obviously), so I basically sent Him to the washing machine – before He thought the Easter Bunny forgot Him. When He peered through the lid (yeah, we can see into our washing machine – it’s a whole new thing for us) and saw the basket, He started cracking up! Mission accomplished, and parenting win. 😆 He loved His basket, and the creative choices behind it (kudos to Hubs this time around!), which made Him feel wicked special. 😍
The rest of the month was pretty chill. The Kiddo began Physical Therapy for His knee, in which He did so well. His therapist is an awesome lady, too, which is always a perk. The weather started becoming consistently warm, so lots of outside time happened. Lots of Netflix and podcasts and movies (oh, my!) also happened, but sadly, not much knitting happened. I did knit here and there, in small doses, but that was mostly out of boredom – plus an extremely long wait at the mechanic, getting Hubs’ truck’s brakes fixed. 😜 I’ve just gotten so lazy with crafting lately, and that started not long after I finally started feeling like crafting again! Gah. I can’t win, y’all. 😯
April was also our Kikis’ adoptiversaries (four years for Kiki N; six years for Kikis P and T), and the Puppers had an interesting experience with an unseen (by me and Bug, that is) something one evening. It scared the absolute shit out of me, but I had to keep it to myself so I didn’t further scare my poor Kiddo, who was even more freaked out than I was. What happened was, I was on the phone with my Momma, and all of a sudden, the Puppers started uncontrollably barking/snarling/growling while looking at the wall behind our TV. He wouldn’t get too close, yet moved forward and backwards, as though he was going to get near it but backed off, and did this for a few minutes. It was insane, and to this day, I still have no fucking idea what happened. It did happen again a couple weeks later, but not as intensely or for as long. I’ve been pretty good at not jumping to conclusions, but it did strike me as completely odd. I hate not being able to explain things, lol.
My Son and I got to celebrate Local Yarn Store Day! This led to buying more yarn, on top of what I already had ordered/coming in/on its way, and we got to watch a big event that was going on in town, at the same time. We even met one of the people who was in the event! It was all very exciting, and another fun first experience to share with BatKid. 😊 Later that day, a random person showed up just outside of our deck while the Puppers and I were hanging out there (I was taking pics of the LYS Day haul), and Mister Protective Puppers scared them off. The person just wandered onto our property, from a random area, so it was quite alarming to hear and see someone just pop up behind me. I mean, who does that? Especially out here in the boonies; there are a lot of people who wouldn’t handle it as well as I did, ya know? 😕
Hubs worked his butt off on getting our swamp cooler set up for the warm seasons, which ended up being more work than we expected (which is the norm with this house, sigh). The Kiddo even joined us on the roof, which was His very first time up there! I was nervous as shit the whole time, even though He’s so careful and smart about safety, but I loved having Him up there. Anyway, the set-up ended up being a two-day gig, which was fine, and it works better than it did last year! So much so, it actually gets chilly in our house. lol. It was awful last summer; it was so screwed up from lack of maintenance, that it wasn’t even cooling our home. Thank goodness swamp coolers aren’t wicked complicated, as my smart man figured out how to improve it, and ended up making it better than ever! 😄
Now for May.
What a busy month it was! Not only was it the last month of the school year for my Kiddo, but He had His last Physical Therapy appointments, plus His cardiologist appointment. The Physical Therapy went amazing, and the program His doctor put Him on, is working beautifully. BatKid even signed in Himself at the last few appointments, which He got complimented on by the receptionist and another patient. ☺ He’s so good at remembering to do His exercises, and even memorized them all fairly quickly. His knee has been great ever since! 😃 As we have to travel to Arizona for the cardiologist visits, it was a long day. Unfortunately, my poor Baby’s heart condition hasn’t shown improvement (it’s steadily become worse over the last almost two years), so the doctor doubled the medication He’s been taking. I’m trying to remain positive, but it’s scary as fuck, y’all. 😔 The last bit of fifth grade went well; that grade was definitely our favorite so far, and we had a great year! I just can’t believe my Little Man is going into the sixth grade…ahhhh!
My Men and I cut wood earlier in the month, which was not only super productive, but fun! It was a pretty cool day, which helps immensely, so we’re not super sweaty and uncomfortable, lol. We got two loads cut and taken home, and Bug and I climbed a wicked rad tree when Hubs was servicing the chainsaw. I even had my Son jump down to me (He wasn’t super high up) from the branch He was on, so I could catch Him. He loved that! 😏 Unfortunately, the Puppers ripped up one of his claws while running around outside when we came home, so he had to go to the vet after we finished unloading the wood and showering. The vet had to cut the nail down to the quick, and he also took care of another issue the Puppers has (it’s in a personal place, lol). The Puppers was such a good boy during both procedures, and was his usual super sweet and friendly self with not just all the people he met, but the dogs he met, too! It was pretty cool, despite the circumstances. 🙂
I’ve been wicked busy around the house, especially in the past month, reorganizing and deep-cleaning things, and just making our house even more cozy. I’ve also been so good at keeping up with my daily chores, which is a huge thing for me, after not keeping to a set schedule for so long (before I started taking the medication for my anxiety and depression). Not to mention, I just see things that can use a different touch, even if it’s something small no one really thinks about. I feel like I’m nesting, only without being knocked up. ha! 😂
We signed up for Blue Apron, which – if you don’t know – is a wonderful food delivery service that sends complete recipes and ingredients to make delicious home-cooked meals – all for a very fair price per week. It not only teaches you new cooking tricks, but gives your taste buds many tasty, new adventures! The recipes we’ve gotten are, for the most part, foods I’d never even think of ordering in a restaurant, let alone making myself, so it’s been a lot of fun! We skipped one week, after having gotten it for two weeks in a row, but that was my fault, as I didn’t plan for it to come out of my account, lol. This past week’s meals were awesome, and I’m really looking forward to the next week’s recipes – but I’ll talk about all that in the next monthly update. 😛
As with April, the weather has been consistently warm, so lots of outside time has happened. Also as with April, lots of Netflix and podcasts and movies have happened, with minimal knitting. I did knit at the mechanic again (I was getting the oil changed in my car before the road trip to AZ), but otherwise, I’ve done next to nothing. I feel awful, since it’s a gift for my Husband, but I just can’t get my fingers working these days. Hopefully I can get back into the crafting groove this month. 🙄
BatKid has been so into making origami! He uses instructions for most of His creations, but He also makes His own designs. Many of them are Star Wars-related, and they are so fucking rad, y’all. He’s amazing with His hands (LEGO is a big part of that), so I won’t be surprised if He ends up in a career where He works with His hands as much as He works with His brain. Anyway, He loves to gift His origami creations, so Hubs and I have a bunch, plus He’s given some to His favorite ladies at the grocery store. He has such a giving nature, just like His Parents. We’re so proud! 😍
My last yarn/yarn-related purchases trickled in throughout the month, and I’ll be writing my blog post about it all, in the near fuure. I’m hoping to get to that sooner rather than later, but after this post, I’m not so sure that will happen, lol. Either way, I’m extremely ashamed of the amount of pretties I got, after writing an entire post about how I wouldn’t buy anything anymore. However, now, I have to mean it. I have no room whatsoever, for one, but it’s just not financially possible anymore. Honestly, I haven’t even looked at any of that stuff, aside from what shows up on social media; I even went as far as uninstalling the Etsy app, ha. Shit just got real, y’all. 😛
Well, that’s all for now. I need to try to get some sleep!
